LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY HAPPENINGS

 

4/21-5/22—Interested students collect General Mills boxtops, Campbell’s labels, and Tyson labels; please have child’s & teacher’s names on the bag/envelope.   Student from all three campuses with most collected gets 10” DVD player; 2nd place earns folding chair; and 3rd place gets ceramic “Footprints for Children” plaque.  Teachers of the winners get prizes too.

    May 1—NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER—Guide our nation, please, Lord!

                   DeLEON Campus invites parents & grandparents to prayer at the flagpole from 8 to 8:30 A.M.

                   DeLAND Preschool & Elementary Campus invites parents & grandparents to prayer in the large field from 8:15 to 8:45 A.M.

                   High School Campus invites parents & grandparents to prayer in the upstairs chapel from 8:15 to 9:15 A.M.

                    All invited to prayer at Volusia Co. Administration Building (123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand) from 12 to 1 P.M.

                    Interested 6th to 12th Grade Boys begin football practice from 3:45 to 5:45 P.M. at DeLand’s Sperling Complex                             (1300 Matt Fair Blvd.)

                    All invited to county-wide prayer at Daytona International Speedway from 7:15 P.M.

             2—DeLand K-4 has a picnic on campus:  Eat=11:20 A.M.; Cost=$4.00

                   1st Grade has an ice-cream party from 2 to 2:30 P.M. for being the class who best attended the last Children’s Encounter in February.

             5—6th to 8th Grade Student Government meets from 2:13 to 3 P.M. with Mrs. Grover in the library.  

          5-9—National Teacher Appreciation Week:  prayers are welcomed!     

             7—DeLEON SPRINGS Preschool & 6-8th Grade CLASS, group PICTURES will be taken at DeLeon campus, beginning at 8:30 A.M.  Class pictures can be paid for later.

                   DeLand K-3 to DeLand’s Beresford Park:  Leave=9:30 A.M.; Return=noon; Cost=$3.50/student  (includes lunch)

                   Kindergarteners to 5th and 9th to 12th Graders take home mid-term progress reports for fourth quarter.

             8—6th to 8th Grade Student Government Representatives go to DeLand’s Sunshine House for spring cleaning and yard work:  Leave=8:30 A.M.; Return=3 P.M.; Cost=lunch money (ice-cream provided)   

                   Next year’s DeLand K-2 to 5th Graders and family are invited to an Open House from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the De-                        Land Campus classrooms.

                   All invited to Basketball Booster Club from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. in fellowship hall at high school campus.   

             9—10th and 11th Graders go to St. Augustine:  Leave=8 A.M.; Return=4 P.M.; Cost=$20/person   

                   5th Grade to DeLeon Campus for previewing 6th Grade:  Leave=8:30 A.M.; Return=12:45 P.M.; Cost=sack lunch (if        not buying hot lunch) + optional soda money

                   8th Grade to High School for previewing 9th Grade:  Leave=8:15 A.M.; Return=1:30 P.M.; Cost=sack lunch (if   not buying hot lunch) + optional snack money

           11—K-4 to 6th Graders wear their XLR8 T-shirts to Children’s Church from 8:45 to 10:15 A.M. or 10:45 A.M. to 12:15           P.M. at the Lighthouse Church, 1525 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand.       

           14—K-4 to 6th Graders are invited to XLR8’s Mystery Night from 6:45 to 8:15 P.M. at the Lighthouse Church, 1525 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand.  

           15—9th to 12th Grade Student Government meets from 2 to 3 P.M. with Mrs. Wells in the office’s conference room.  

     15-16—5th to 8th Grade Winners perform in art and music competition at FACCS State Fine Arts Competition in West Palm Beach

     15-27—Kindergarteners to the Lighthouse Church (1525 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand) for graduation practice from 8:45 to  11:45 A.M.; please take child to church if he arrives after 8:45 A.M.

     16-17—Interested Ladies are invited to “Women of Faith Infinite Grace” Women’s Conference from 7 P.M. on 5/16 to 5             P.M. on 5/17 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena; Cost=$45/person + lodging.   

           17—9th to 12th Grade Prom at DeLand Country Club from 8 to 11 P.M.:  Cost=$40/person, including dinner (Guests from outside our high school must be approved by Principal Wells.)

           19—Next year’s 9th to 12th Graders and family are invited to an Open House from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the high school  campus classrooms, 15-25 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand.

           20—6th to 8th Graders take home 2nd tri-weekly reports for fourth quarter.    

                   Interested 6th to 12th Graders and family are invited to Awards Banquet & Athletic Fundraiser from 7 to 9 P.M. at DeLand’s Chisholm Center (520 S. Clara Ave.); Cost=$7/person (includes finger foods)

           23—TEACHER DUTY DAY—STUDENT HOLIDAY, BUT DAYCARE OPEN:  If child on monthly tuition needs to attend, cost per day is $24 for 1, $44 for 2 children, or $51 for 3, including 6:30 A.M. to 6 P.M. with lunch. 

                   9th to 12th Grade Boys’ Crusader Football Team plays in Spring Jamboree at Pierson’s Taylor Junior/Senior High School from 7 to 8:45 P.M.  (Players leave from high school—1525 S. 15-A, DeLand—at 5:15 P.M. and return       there at 9:15 P.M.)

     24-25—K-4 to 6th Graders are invited to “Zoo-Tastic Adventure” Children’s Encounter from 7:30 A.M. on 5/24 to 12:30           P.M. on 5/25 (K-4 to 1st graders get picked up by 4:30 P.M. on 5/24) at the Lighthouse Church, 1525 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand; Cost=$15/K-4 to 1stgraders or $20/2nd-6th graders.      

          26—MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAYSCHOOL & DAYCARE CLOSED  Thank you, God, for our lives spared because of others who sacrificed.

          27—Kindergarten Graduation at the Lighthouse Church, 1525 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand from 7 to 8:30 P.M.

          28—6th to 8th Graders have measuring done for fall uniforms from Fontaine from 7:30 to 10:30 A.M.  

                  9th to 12th Graders have measuring done for fall uniforms from Fontaine from 1:30 to 5 P.M.; 5th Graders may go to high school from 3:15 to 5 P.M. for fitting for 6th grade in fall.

          30—1st to 5th Graders have Field Day from 8:30 A.M. to noon; please bring a drink labeled with child’s name.

                  6th & 7th Grades to Ocala’s Silver Springs

                  8th Grade to Orlando’s Sea World & Aquatica:  Leave=8 A.M., Return=8 P.M.; Cost=$62/students or $66/adults +                          lunch money

          31—All invited to our Sports Program Fundraiser GOLF Tournament at DeBary Golf & Country Club:  Start=7:15 A.M.;                         Cost=$75/player or $300/4-man team (includes cart, range balls, continental breakfast, & lunch)

   June 1—First tuition payment due for fall for those using 12-month plan for preschoolers on 7:45 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. or others on 7:45 A.M. to 3:15 P.M. plan

            2—5th Grade to Orlando’s Sea World:  Leave=7:45 A.M.; Return=6 P.M.; Cost=$35/student or $45/chaperone + $15 for lunch

         2-4—9th to 12th Grade Exams (Without these, a student’s grades will be incomplete.)

         3-5—6th to 8th Grade Exams (Without these, a student’s grades will be incomplete.)

            4—K-4 to 6th Graders are invited to XLR8’s End-of-the-Year Bash from 6:45 to 8:15 P.M. at the Lighthouse Church, 1525 S. Highway 15-A, DeLand.       

            5—9th Grade to Winter Park by train

                  6th to 8th Graders have an Awards Assembly from 1 to 3 P.M. in the lunchroom.   

            6—Last Day of School for all students!

                  Parents and family are invited to 9th to 12th Graders Awards Assembly from 8:15 to 9:15 A.M. in the sanctuary.   

                  2nd & 3rd Grades to DeLand’s Skating Rink:  Leave=9:30 A.M., Return=1:30 P.M.; Cost=$5/person      (includes lunch)

                  4th Grade to DeLand’s Hontoon Island:  Leave=10 A.M., Return=2:30 P.M.; Cost=sack lunch

            7—12th Grade Graduation at the Lighthouse Church, 1525 S. Hwy 15-A, DeLand: 4 to 6 P.M.

            9—First Day of Summer Daycare for preschool through 6th grade:  registration fee=$10/child

          13—Kindergarten to 12th Grade Parent/Teacher OPTIONAL Conferences for 4th quarter report cards:  Please sign up for time with teacher.  Please make sure all accounts (book fees plus morning and afternoon daycare included) are clear before conference or card pick-up.

                         6/17-7/3—9th to 12th Graders take Summer School for failed subjects on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 A.M. to noon; Cost=$250.00     

          30—Last day to get discounted registration and book fees for fall

          12—DeLand Preschool & Kindergarten Orientation at DeLand Campus (126 S. Ridgewood Ave.) in classrooms from               6:30 to 7:30 P.M.

                  9th to 12th Grade Orientation at high school campus (1525 S. Highway 15-A) in classrooms from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M.                   

          14—DeLeon Springs Preschool & 6th-8th Grade Orientation at DeLeon Springs Campus in classrooms from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M.

          15—Last day to pay August’s tuition without late fee

                  1st to 5th Grade Orientation at DeLand Campus in classrooms from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M.

          16—Last Day of Summer Daycare for preschool through 6th grade

          18—First Day of School in fall:  classes start at 8 A.M.

          22—First daycare payment due for those on 6:30 A.M. to 6 P.M. plan

          29—Last day to pay year tuition to get 4% discount
