June 2004
Introducing:
Reverend Paul Bryan, wife Labecka,
& two children, Seyla & Zoe
I am both pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Rev. Paul Bryan to the position of
Assistant Pastor of the Lighthouse Church. I first met Paul when he and his family starting attending our church in July of 2001. He had just moved to West Volusia County because he had been appointed district manager for the Eckerd drug store chain. Since that time he has worked for Eckerd drug stores, but his first love and passion has been Jesus Christ and His church.
In January 2003, while Paul was serving part-time as our youth pastor, he went to Nigeria with me on a mission’s trip where we shared preaching responsibilities. Near the end of that trip God spoke very clearly to me that Paul was the one he wanted me to raise up as my Timothy to assist me in pastoring this church and overseeing the business responsibilities I have with the school.
Pastor Paul will give Pastor Ken and I some much needed assistance. He will also be trained, equipped, and prepared to take over as senior pastor and LCA Business Manager whenever the Lord takes me home or has me step down. Both Paul and I are hoping and praying this will not be for many more years.
In the meantime, Paul will be learning and growing, but also leading, ministering, overseeing certain ministries, and assisting me in every part of this complex ministry with our church, school, and two childcare centers. Paul has been ordained and is ready to function in any pastoral role. He also has a strong business background, having been district manager over 14 stores, and has been responsible for hiring and developing staff, expense control, vendor partnerships, and making sure that the stores were profitable.
Paul attended Troy State University on a basketball scholarship. At Ponce de Leon High School he was captain of the basketball team. He has much more on his resume than we have room to provide here.
I recommended him because I’m convinced it is God’s will. I see in him a passion for Christ, His church, and for ministry. During the three years he has been a part of our church, he has also served as head usher, head greeter, board member, and prayer warrior. The board saw in him the same things I saw and unanimously voted him to this position.
He actually officially began July 16. His first assignment was to lead the new youth leadership team and the youth who went to Louisiana for the Youth Encounter last weekend. Under his leadership God is already doing awesome things among our youth and youth leaders. Please uphold Paul, his wife, Labecka, and their two children, Seyla, and Zoe in prayer as they make this major transition in their life, and let them know how excited you are that God has brought them to this new position of leadership in the Lighthouse.
With Joyful Praise,
Pastors Dave & Jean Walker
The Rest of the Story
January 6, 2008
Pastor Paul Bryan, wife Labecka,
& three children, Seyla, Zoe, & Joy
For the last three and a half years, Pastor Paul has excelled at every assignment given to him. He has proven, beyond any doubt, that he is God’s man for the job.
During his six and one-half years here, he has served as greeter, usher, head usher, youth pastor, sexton, property manager, Head of Men’s Network, Director of Public Relations, and Discipleship Class Teacher. Also, he has taught Classes 101, 201, 301, and 401, a New Believer’s Class, sang in the choir, and fed the hungry.
He has sharpened his preaching skills by preaching in youth meetings, school chapels, mission trips to India and Nigeria, Wednesday nights, and Sunday mornings.
Before becoming a Minister, Pastor Paul worked in business as Manager of a General Nutrition Store, and a beach store, and as a District Manager for The Family Dollar Store.
During the eight years he worked at Eckerd’s, he became “Hiring Manager for North Florida”, … over 150 stores, Loss Prevention Manager for over 100 stores, and District Manager over thirty-eight stores and twenty-seven photo labs, all of which was good training for the ministry.
The vote of the church to make Pastor Paul our next Pastor in October 2006 was nearly unanimous, so now the time has come.
God has elevated him from “Loss Prevention” to “Lost Prevention”.
